plenty of attractions to keep you occupied. Walks
along the seafront, 3 castles within a 15 minute
drive, a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary,
plus 2 zoos are just a few of the options.
Shopping
is on hand in many places. In Deal the shops are an
attractive mixture of the old, new and quaint, Canterbury
and Dover have all the big city outlets as well as antique
shops and historic attractions. You can also take a
day trip to Calais and enjoy the taste of France.

the Continent is your destination, you can use Sondes
Lodge as a stop off point prior to your departure. We
are within easy reach of Dover ferry port and
the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone.
History
The
town received its Charter as a Borough in 1699 and became
one of the Cinque Ports. It is renowned as a smugglers
town. Deal boatmen would stand by as ships floundered
on the Goodwin Sands in the Channel and reap the spoils
as crew and passengers drowned. The Maritime and Time
ball Museums are interesting and informative places
to visit during your stay in Deal.
Golf
If
golf is your thing, then Sondes Lodge is the ideal place
to be, there are 4 very well known golf courses close
by. The Royal Cinque Ports and Kingsdown courses in
Deal plus Princes and Royal St. Georges in Sandwich.
